Application of OMOP Common Data Model for Data Integration: The Bulgarian Diabetes Register

Abstract: This paper considers mapping of the Bulgarian Diabetes Register (BDR) onto OMOP Common Data Model (CDM). It is a nationally representative patient-centric database with observational health data of 503,753 distinct diabetic patients. The CDM resolves data integration issues in otherwise disparate datasets and allows to bring out value of health data by using Health Technology Assessment (HTA). Research results are referenced and plans for large-scale analysis of drug shortages from federated data sources are outlined.
